Sao Paulo is the economic engine of Brazil and a major hub for STEM in Latin America. You have a thriving fintech scene, large engineering firms, biotech research centers, and global tech companies with offices here. For women in STEM, this city offers serious opportunities.
But here is what we hear from women across Sao Paulo. The opportunities exist, but the path is not always clear. Who do you ask when you want to move from a technical role into management? How do you find someone who can introduce you to the right people? Who helps you figure out if you should stay in your current job or take a risk on something new?
That is where MakePossible comes in. We are a mentoring network built for women in STEM, by women in STEM. And we have a growing community right here in Sao Paulo. Our members work at the big tech companies, lead engineering projects, run their own startups, and teach at places like USP and Unicamp. They have been where you are. And they want to help.
Maybe you are a recent engineering graduate. You have the technical skills but you are struggling to get noticed in a competitive market. A mentor can look at your resume, do a mock interview with you, and introduce you to hiring managers in their network. That kind of help can change everything.
Or maybe you have been working in data science or software development for a few years. You are good at your job, but you feel like you have hit a ceiling. You want to be considered for leadership roles, but you are not sure how to get there. A mentor who has navigated that transition can give you practical advice. How to build visibility. How to advocate for yourself. How to speak up in meetings where you are often the only woman.
We also know that women in Sao Paulo face extra challenges. Long commutes across this massive city. Family expectations. Workplaces that are not always welcoming or inclusive. Our mentors understand these challenges because they have lived them. They can give you advice that actually works for your real life.
For those of you who have been in your careers for a while. You have experience. You have wisdom. You have a network. Becoming a mentor is a powerful way to give back. And many of our mentors tell us they learn just as much from their mentees as they teach.
Getting started with MakePossible is simple. You join the community. You fill out your profile. You tell us what you need. Then we help match you with a mentor who fits your goals and your field. You can meet in person in Pinheiros or Vila Olimpia, or connect over Zoom. Whatever works for you.
Not ready to ask for a mentor yet? No problem. Come to our events. Join a mentoring circle. Just listen and learn. You will be surprised how much value you get just from being in the room with other women who understand your world.
Here is the truth. You do not have to figure this out alone. There are women in Sao Paulo right now who want to help you succeed. They have connections. They have advice. They have been exactly where you are today. They are waiting to meet you.
Join MakePossible today. Find your mentor. Grow your career. And when you are ready, become a mentor for someone else. That is how we change the face of STEM in Sao Paulo and across Brazil. One conversation at a time.
