Mentoring for Women in STEM in Nairobi

Nairobi is becoming a real hub for tech and innovation in Africa. We have seen more startups, more labs, and more opportunities for women in STEM than ever before. But here is the thing. Many women still struggle to find the right people to guide them. They have questions but no one to ask. They want to move up but don't know who can show them the way.

That is exactly why MakePossible exists. We are a mentoring network built by and for women in STEM. And we are here in Nairobi to help you connect with mentors who actually get it. People who have worked in Kenyan tech companies. Who have navigated the local job market. Who understand the challenges you are facing because they faced them too.

Maybe you are a recent graduate from the University of Nairobi with a degree in computer science. You have the skills but you are not sure how to land your first real job. A mentor can look at your CV, introduce you to the right people, and tell you what hiring managers are actually looking for. That kind of help changes everything.

Or maybe you have been working as a data analyst for a couple of years. You feel stuck. You know you can do more but you don't see a clear path forward. A mentor who has been there can help you figure out your next move. Whether it is going back to school, switching to a different role, or starting your own thing. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you that you are ready.

And for those of you who are already leading teams or running projects. You might want to become a mentor yourself. Sharing what you have learned with someone who is just starting out. That is how we build a stronger community. One conversation at a time.

We also know that mentoring is not just about career advice. Sometimes you need help with confidence. With speaking up in meetings. With negotiating your salary. With balancing work and family. These things matter. And talking to someone who has been through it can make a huge difference.

In Nairobi, we have members from all kinds of STEM fields. Software development, civil engineering, biotech, environmental science, you name it. So whatever your area, there is likely someone in our community who can help.

The best part? You don't have to wait for the perfect moment. You can join today. Fill out your profile. Tell us what you need. And we will help connect you with a mentor who fits. You can meet online or grab a coffee in town if you are both in Nairobi.

And if you are not ready to ask for a mentor yet, that is fine too. You can start by attending our events. Join a mentoring circle. Listen to other women share their stories. You will learn a lot just by being there.

So here is what we want you to know. You don't have to figure it all out alone. There are women in this city who want to help you succeed. They are waiting to meet you. All you need to do is take the first step.

Join MakePossible today. Find your mentor. Grow your career. And when you are ready, become a mentor for someone else. That is how we change the face of STEM in Nairobi. Together.
