Mentoring for Women in STEM in Accra

Accra is becoming a real hub for tech and innovation in West Africa. You have a growing startup scene, more investment in digital infrastructure, and young women graduating in STEM fields every year. But here is what we hear from women in Accra all the time. Getting the degree is hard. But finding someone to guide you after that is even harder.

Who do you ask when you want to start your own tech company? How do you find a mentor who has worked in the local industry and understands the specific challenges you face? Who do you turn to when you feel like giving up because no one looks like you in the boardroom?

That is where MakePossible comes in. We are a mentoring network built for women in STEM, by women in STEM. And we are here in Accra to help you connect with mentors who actually get it. People who have navigated the Ghanaian job market. Who understand the cultural expectations. Who have built careers here and want to help you build yours.

Maybe you are a recent graduate from University of Ghana or Ashesi. You have a degree in computer science or engineering. You have the skills but you are not sure how to land your first real job. A mentor can look at your CV, introduce you to people in their network, and tell you what local employers are actually looking for. That kind of help is priceless.

Or maybe you have been working as a developer or an engineer for a few years. You are good at your job but you feel stuck. You want to move into leadership, but you are not sure how to make that happen. A mentor who has made that transition can give you practical advice. How to build visibility. How to advocate for yourself. How to navigate workplaces where women are still the minority.

We also know that women in Accra face unique challenges. Access to funding. Access to senior role models. Balancing career with family expectations. Our mentors understand these challenges because they have lived them. They can give you advice that actually works for your real life, not some ideal version of it.

And here is something important. You do not need to have everything figured out to join. You just need to be willing to learn. Your mentor will meet you where you are. Whether you are a student trying to figure out your path or a professional looking for your next challenge.

Getting started with MakePossible is simple. You join the community. You fill out your profile. You tell us what you need. Then we help match you with a mentor who fits. You can meet in person in Osu or East Legon, or connect online if that works better for you.

Not ready to ask for a mentor yet? No problem. Come to our events. Join a mentoring circle. Listen to other women share their stories. You will learn a lot just by being there. And when you are ready, the mentors will be there.

Here is the truth. You do not have to figure this out alone. There are women in Accra right now who want to help you succeed. They have been where you are. They know the local scene. They have connections. And they are waiting to meet you.

Join MakePossible today. Find your mentor. Grow your career. And one day, when you are further along, become a mentor for someone else. That is how we build a stronger STEM community in Accra and across West Africa. One conversation at a time.
